Engineered for circular economy, sustainability and profitability.
As part of the ARIA Coal Solution, the ARIA Dry Coal Beneficiation Process separates valuable mineral fractions from superfine coal through advanced density-based stratification. This enables the recovery of industrial minerals such as silica, alumina, and iron-bearing compounds with typical purities of 85–90%. As a result, the ARIA Coal Solution creates additional value from coal resources while improving overall resource recovery.
Furthermore, the recovered minerals can be supplied directly to industrial raw material markets or further upgraded through refining and thermal processing. Consequently, higher-purity mineral products can be produced for use in the cement, steel, metallurgy, ceramics, glass, and chemical industries. By integrating mineral recovery into the ARIA Coal Solution, coal producers can maximise value from every tonne of coal, reduce waste streams, and support a more sustainable and profitable coal industry.
As part of the ARIA Coal Solution, ARIA delivers custom-engineered industrial solutions that support clean technologies, advanced airflow systems, and dust and fume extraction plants. Our solutions are designed to improve operational efficiency, enhance environmental performance, and support sustainable industrial operations across the mining, energy, and manufacturing sectors.
Furthermore, the ARIA Coal Solution combines advanced airflow engineering with practical, profitability-driven plant design to achieve reliable and efficient performance. As a result, businesses can improve plant productivity, maintain regulatory compliance, reduce operating costs, and support long-term sustainable growth.
ARIA delivers energy at costs that conventional coal systems cannot match.
ARIA’s Dry Coal Valorisation Process is an advanced clean coal technology that upgrades low-grade coal without the use of water, chemicals, or slurry-based processing. The process improves coal quality and produces a higher-value feedstock suitable for coal gasification, coal-to-chemicals, clean energy production, and other industrial applications. As a result, coal producers can maximise resource utilisation while reducing environmental impact.
Furthermore, the process eliminates the need for tailings dams and wet waste disposal, significantly reducing water consumption and waste generation. Consequently, ARIA’s Dry Coal Valorisation Process provides a sustainable, environmentally responsible, and resource-efficient alternative to conventional coal beneficiation methods while supporting the production of cleaner energy and value-added coal products.

ARIA engineered and delivered a Dry Coal Beneficiation Plant for Palesa Mine in Bronkhorstspruit, South Africa, with a processing capacity of 500 TPH. The facility was redesigned to optimise airflow dynamics, material flow, and separation performance, enabling efficient dry coal processing without the use of water. As a result, the plant delivers improved coal quality and enhanced beneficiation efficiency for thermal coal applications.
Furthermore, advanced airflow engineering and process optimisation ensure stable fluidisation and effective separation of coal from ash-bearing material. Consequently, the installation improves plant throughput, operational reliability, and resource recovery while reducing environmental impact. The project highlights ARIA’s expertise in designing and implementing large-scale Dry Coal Beneficiation Plants for mining operations seeking sustainable, high-capacity coal upgrading solutions.
ARIA completed a comprehensive retrofit of the existing Dry Coal Beneficiation Plant at the Africoal SA Klipfontein facility in South Africa. The upgrade was designed to improve plant performance, increase separation efficiency, and enhance overall operational reliability. As part of the project, ARIA redesigned the airflow reticulation system and optimised the fluidisation process that drives efficient dry coal beneficiation.
Furthermore, advanced airflow engineering and process optimisation improved fluidised bed stability and airflow distribution throughout the plant. Consequently, the retrofit achieved better separation of coal from ash-bearing material, increased plant throughput, and improved beneficiation performance while utilising the existing infrastructure. The project demonstrates ARIA’s expertise in upgrading Dry Coal Beneficiation Plants through targeted engineering improvements that deliver higher efficiency, lower operating costs, and enhanced long-term plant performance.
ARIA engineered and delivered a state-of-the-art Railway Wagon Paint Plant for Transnet Engineering at its Pretoria facility in South Africa. Designed for large rolling stock and high-volume industrial coating operations, the facility incorporates advanced airflow engineering, optimised paint application zones, and controlled curing environments. As a result, the plant achieves consistent coating quality across complete railway wagons while supporting efficient production processes.
Furthermore, the facility layout was developed to enable smooth wagon movement, safe operator access, and stable environmental conditions throughout the painting and curing process. Consequently, the high-efficiency ventilation system and robust industrial infrastructure improve coating consistency, plant productivity, and operational reliability. The project demonstrates ARIA’s expertise in designing and delivering advanced industrial paint plants that meet stringent quality, safety, and environmental compliance requirements for large-scale manufacturing and engineering operations.
ARIA engineered and installed a high-capacity Fume Extraction System for SA Steel Mills at its Vereeniging facility in South Africa. The system was designed to ensure environmental compliance for four 25 TPH furnaces by capturing high-temperature furnace fumes directly at the source. As a result, emissions are effectively controlled through a robust ducting network and specially designed extraction hoods.
Furthermore, the captured gases pass through a controlled cooling section before entering high-efficiency baghouse dust collectors, where fine particulate matter is removed from the airflow stream. Consequently, the installation significantly reduces airborne emissions, improves workplace air quality, and enhances operational safety across the facility. Engineered for demanding steel manufacturing environments, the system delivers reliable continuous performance while supporting environmental compliance and sustainable industrial operations.
ARIA engineered and installed an automated wheel blasting machine for billet surface preparation at ArcelorMittal’s Newcastle facility, South Africa. The system was designed to efficiently remove scale, rust, and surface contaminants from steel billets produced during the rolling and casting process.
The installation incorporates high-performance blasting wheels, optimized material handling, and an integrated dust extraction system to ensure consistent surface cleaning and reliable continuous operation. By automating the blasting process, the solution improves surface quality, production efficiency, and operator safety while meeting the demanding operational standards of large-scale steel manufacturing.
